Είδα έστω και καθυστερημένα ένα καταπληκτικό ντοκιμαντέρ το Food Inc. Θέμα ο απατηλός "τέλειος" κόσμος της απόλυτα βιομηχανοποιημένης τροφής που φτάνει κατά ένα συντριπτικό ποσοστό στο πιάτο μας καθημερινά. Το ενδιαφέρον είναι η πολύπλευρη και πολυεπίπεδη προσέγγιση του θέματος. Από την πλευρά των αγροτών, των κτηνοτρόφων, της αλυσίδας σούπερ μάρκετ, των χημικών βιομηχανιών και φυσικά των καταναλωτών. Αν και διαδραματίζεται στις ΗΠΑ δε θα πρέπει να κάνετε τη σκέψη ότι είναι ένα μακρινό πρόβλημα. Οι τρελοί ρυθμοί του σύγχρονου δυτικού τρόπου ζωής είναι μια πραγματικότητα για πάρα πολλές χώρες και της Ελλάδας συμπεριλαμβανομένης και αυτό επιρεάζει τη διαδρομή της τροφής από το χωράφι μέχρι και το ράφι των super markets. Άλλωστε κάποιες εταιρείες που αναφέρονται στη διάρκειά του είναι παγκόσμιας εμβέλειας. Παραγωγή 2008 από τον βραβευμένο με Emmy σκηνοθέτη Ρόμπερτ Κένερ.

Το 2001 μεταδόθηκε σε τρία μέρη ένα καταπληκτικό ντοκιμαντέρ που παρουσιάζει τη γέννηση της μουσικής που άλλαξε το μουσικό χάρτη από τη βάση του. Φυσικά παρθενογένεσις δεν υπάρχουν. Από τις   επιρροές που αποτέλεσαν το στήριγμα της house μουσικής μέχρι και τη δεκαετία  του '90 ξετυλίγεται ένα μουσικό κουβάρι με σαγηνευτικό τρόπο. Σχεδόν όλοι οι εμπλεκόμενοι περνάνε από την οθόνη ή αναφέρονται. Από τα υπόγεια του Σικάγο έως τις πίστες με χιλιάδες ανθρώπους να χορεύουν, αυτή είναι μια υπέροχη ιστορία. Το ντεμπούτο άλμπουμ της 24χρονης σκοτσέζας είναι από τις ευχάριστες δροσερές εκπλήξεις της χρονιάς. Έχει μουσικό στυλ που θυμίζει αρκετά Alicia Keys, με περισσότερες ποπ επιρροές, και στιχουργικά στέκεται απρόσμενα πολύ καλά. Δεν είναι τυχαίο που κέρδισε το βραβείο κριτικών για το '12 στα Brit's awards. Η εισαγωγή με το single Heaven είναι πραγματικά εντυπωσιακή όσο και αν θυμίζει τους massive attack, και η ευρωπαϊκή του κυρίως επιτυχία απόλυτα αναμενόμενη. Πέρα από αυτό όμως υπάρχουν και άλλα τραγούδια που κάνουν την πρώτη της δισκογραφική δουλειά από τις πιο ολοκληρωμένες στην ποπ σόουλ σκηνή του 2012. Προτείνω να προσέξετε τα Mountains, Clown, Breaking the law και το επίσης single Next to me. Νομίζω ότι καλλιτέχνης που καταφέρνει να κάνει μια τέτοια πρώτη δουλειά είναι σίγουρο ότι θα μας απασχολήσει και στο μέλλον αρκετά.

Ένας από τους αγαπημένους μου Βρετανούς. Τον λάτρευα με το πάνκ των Jam, τον ακολούθησα στον ορισμό του pop στυλ για τη δεκαετία του '80 με τους Style Council και όσο για τα προηγούμενα 10 προσωπικά του άλμπουμ στα περισσότερα συμφώνησα με τους κρητικούς που τα εκθείαζαν. Αν και βρίσκεται στην επικίνδυνη ηλικία των 50+, η δημιουργικότητά του καλά κρατεί. Αποτέλεσμα ένας από τους καλύτερους της χρονιάς μέχρι τώρα. Ο αναβιωτής των Mods λες και κάνει ένα ταξίδι στα δισκογραφικά του χρόνια μέσα στα 51 λεπτά του νέου του cd. Ηλεκτρισμένο πανκ ροκ με το Κling i klang που θα το ζήλευαν για την ενέργειά του και οι σημερινοί εικοσάριδες. Το That dangerous age πρέπει να έχει βγει από κάποια ξεχασμένη μπομπίνα του '60 και φρεσκαρίστηκε για να μπει σε δίσκο του σήμερα. Το Study in blue θα ήθελαν πολύ να το είχαν γράψει οι Simply Red αν ήταν τόσο δημιουργικοί. Μπάσο και μελωδία κατευθείαν στην καρδιά και στο μυαλό με το Around the lake. Το τρυφερό, θετικό Be happy children. Το ρυθμικό Starlight κάθε επνευσμένος παραγωγός ραδιοφώνου θα πρέπει να το λιώσει στο παίξιμο και οι remixers να κάνουν ουρές για να το μεταμορφώσουν σε club friendly τραγούδι. Όσο για το Devotion λες και είναι ξεχασμένο session από το ένδοξο Wild wood. Σιγουράκι σας λέω για τα 20 καλύτερα του '12.

Masters at Work Legacy

Η Νεοϋορκέζικη ομάδα χτυπά ασταμάτητα εδώ και 20 χρόνια. Το πολύχρωμο μουσικό χαλί τους έχει τα πάντα, house, latin, brazillian beats, jazz, funk, disco, african, hip hop. Έχουν συνεργαστεί με πολλούς...με πάρα πολλούς όμως, και το αποτέλεσμα σχεδόν πάντα κινεί σώμα και μυαλό ώρες ατελείωτες. 'Little' Louie Vega και Kenny 'Dope' Gonzalez επί το έργο λοιπόν...
