Το 2001 μεταδόθηκε σε τρία μέρη ένα καταπληκτικό ντοκιμαντέρ που παρουσιάζει τη γέννηση της μουσικής που άλλαξε το μουσικό χάρτη από τη βάση του. Φυσικά παρθενογένεσις δεν υπάρχουν. Από τις   επιρροές που αποτέλεσαν το στήριγμα της house μουσικής μέχρι και τη δεκαετία  του '90 ξετυλίγεται ένα μουσικό κουβάρι με σαγηνευτικό τρόπο. Σχεδόν όλοι οι εμπλεκόμενοι περνάνε από την οθόνη ή αναφέρονται. Από τα υπόγεια του Σικάγο έως τις πίστες με χιλιάδες ανθρώπους να χορεύουν, αυτή είναι μια υπέροχη ιστορία. Τα τελευταία χρόνια της disco, τα πρώτα house clubs, τα πρώτα drum machines, το jack, το πρώτο house anthem, o πρώτος δίσκος house που τυπώθηκε...και άλλα πάρα πολλά...

Το ντεμπούτο άλμπουμ της 24χρονης σκοτσέζας είναι από τις ευχάριστες δροσερές εκπλήξεις της χρονιάς. Έχει μουσικό στυλ που θυμίζει αρκετά Alicia Keys, με περισσότερες ποπ επιρροές, και στιχουργικά στέκεται απρόσμενα πολύ καλά. Δεν είναι τυχαίο που κέρδισε το βραβείο κριτικών για το '12 στα Brit's awards. Η εισαγωγή με το single Heaven είναι πραγματικά εντυπωσιακή όσο και αν θυμίζει τους massive attack, και η ευρωπαϊκή του κυρίως επιτυχία απόλυτα αναμενόμενη. Πέρα από αυτό όμως υπάρχουν και άλλα τραγούδια που κάνουν την πρώτη της δισκογραφική δουλειά από τις πιο ολοκληρωμένες στην ποπ σόουλ σκηνή του 2012. Προτείνω να προσέξετε τα Mountains, Clown, Breaking the law και το επίσης single Next to me. Νομίζω ότι καλλιτέχνης που καταφέρνει να κάνει μια τέτοια πρώτη δουλειά είναι σίγουρο ότι θα μας απασχολήσει και στο μέλλον αρκετά.
